Douglas Price of the University of Wisconsin in Madison has been working in collaboration with the Kalundborg Museum since 1989.

He is an archaeologist interested in the Stone Age - particularly in the transition from hunting to farming.
Some of the major projects over the last 20 years have included field survey around the Saltbæk Vig and excavations at Smakkerup Huse, Trustrup, Dragsholm, Fårevejle, and Asnæs Havnemark.
The fieldwork has produced several tons of flint artifacts, pottery, bone material, and human skeletal remains.

In 2006 Price received the Westerby Award at the National Museum for his archaeological work in Denmark with the museum.

These projects have been a joint effort of the Department of Anthropology in Madison and the Museum and involve students and staff from both institutions.
A series of scientific articles, six student MA and PhD theses, and two books are some of results of these efforts. Another is the cross-cultural exchange of ideas and information.
Various museum projects have developed from this collaboration including a research project aimed at throwing light upon the history of emigration from West Zealand to Michigan, USA. The emigration project has taken place in cooperation with Cranbrook Institute of Science, Detroit.
The last 20 years have also seen several marriages and children resulting from Danish-American interaction.
